Bonus Bounce Back for London Banking MDs!
Total compensation has fluctuated substantially over the last 3 years: MDs were down 31% in 2013, but bounced back to +23% for 2014.
Base salary hike: Between 2012 and 2013 base salary remained flat, but 2014 has seen them increase by 12% year on year.
2013 really was a tough year for senior bankers: Bonuses were down 64% in 2013! But with a 30% hike in 2014, total comp is back to 2012 levels.
What of the EU bonus cap regulation so far? Bonus/base salary ratios went from 1.57x in 2012, to 0.96x in 2013, and then back up to 1.22x in 2014.
Robert Benson, CEO at Emolument.com, said: It seems that for good times are rolling again for senior bankers. And it seems unlikely to change anytime soon with the EU bonus cap rule still unlikely to make a significant dent in total compensation as bonus/salary ratios are still below the recommended threshold.
Years | Base Salary | Bonus |
---|---|---|
2014 | $285,000 | $348,000 |
2013 | $250,000 | $240,000 |
2012 | $250,000 | $393,000 |
